Customers ‘go live’ with Central Management Systems (CMS) – May 2010 For the first time since their development some 10 years ago, customers are now being billed on CMS information by their electricity supplier. This is the result of several years of work between the manufacturers, customers and PDA. There are currently four systems which have gone live with us, Harvard, Zodion, SELC and Telensa. For those customers it means that they are being billed based on each lamps recorded performance. Major Changes to Distribution Use of System (DUoS) Charges – April 2010 From the 1st April 2010 there have been major changes to the DUoS charges published for all 14 Distribution Areas. Simply put the DUoS charge is a charge that Distribution Businesses make against the suppliers for maintaining and passing electricity across their network. Ofgem asked the Distributors to come up with a common charging methodology across all 14 areas. The Common Distribution Charging Methodology (CDCM) was established and a new structure has now been agreed. This has had an important impact on unmetered supplies customers, it will impact the rate you are charged by your supplier. In SSE (Hydro) in Scotland for example, there is now an approximate 20% saving by moving from Non Half Hourly trading to Half Hourly trading, this saving was significantly lower before the CDCM. SEC Mayflower receives ELEXON/UMSUG Approval – March 2010 Power Data Associates are pleased to announce that in March ELEXON approved what is now the sixth Central Management System (CMS) in the GB market. This is a welcome development as Mayflower has been around since the very first CMS systems were developed, approximately 10 years ago.
